The Hickoids | Flagship Records

Jeff Smith

Jeff Smith was interviewed on December 8, 2025, at Flagship Records, located at 6336 Montgomery Drive. He talks about his band, The Hickoids, and how they started by playing songs from bands like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. Later, in college, they began writing their own songs and playing at well-known clubs like Villa Fontana in the late 1970s and 1980s. Jeff also explains how he started The Corn Pound, a rock arts space where bands such as The Snowbirds and Piñata Protest have recorded music. The Corn Pound is also used by non-profit groups like High Voltage and TexPOP S.A. It gives fans of 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s punk and underground music a place to find vinyl records, band merchandise, and punk rock shows.
